So here's my latest...showed Sam my most recent draught of project, but it still needs a lot of work. It lacks continuity between sections, so I needa think on it more. But I got some good feedback and should be able to bring something worthwhile out of it by Monday. As predicted, working with sounds of big box down reverberant stairs has been fun :) Just slowed it down with flexitime really, it sounds eery which i like. I think the whole piece needs more eeriness in it. I really like keeping both the original siren sound and the audio to MIDI version, they both sound cool. I just got to figure out how to arrange them. And the scoria sounds aren't...as impacting as I'd hoped. Maybe playing with effects will help me get closer to the feel I'm wanting.
I'm listening to Thomas' piece and really like it! Cool water sounds and nice chord progressions too. Mm I was stuck in this mindset of sound art pieces which had no semblance of melody so it was refreshing to hear him use the sounds within a harmonic framework. I look fwd to hearing other peoples' ones, yay.
I played keys at my friends' wedding today, nervous-making! But it was nice, people seemed to like it. St Aiden's is such a beautiful church, it was my first time there. I noticed though that sound really seems to fall dead in the main building, which is surprising since it's mostly wooden panels/ceilings. A lovely service...
Just for fun, here's a link of something that didn't happen at the wedding today, but it is my favourite keyboard cat fail. (Someone did jokingly suggest that I 'play them off' at the end of my friends' ceremony with the keyboard cat song, but I thought better of it haha.)
